    Brake Light Switch change

    Hi Fourm,

Would anyone know how to get the BLS off for a 2013 xv crosstrek? The plug itself is simple to get off, but it looks like the BLS is screwed into the brake base itself? Is this why Subaru charges so much to change this one part? I got the part for $17. wasn't able to find anything on google in regards/instrucitons for removing the BLS. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Does inspecting the new part offer any sort of help?

Mine went out about a year or two ago and yeah, it cost waaaay too much to replace.

thanks all. that $17.15 was well spent.... i was going through the youtube videos, but i never sat through the videos. when i saw the 1/4 turn, i tried it on mine and my BLS popped right out. test drove it today and light never came on. my car has the extended warranty so i would THINK they would have replaced it for free, but who knows. $17.15 for peace of mind not worrying about getting banged up for a stupid 'repair'.
