Thread: Crosstrek 6 speed manual jerky shifting

I am new here - go easy!

I wonder if some of the problem is rev hang? That’s what I found annoying during my test drive. I saw a thread where there was a discussion of getting a “tune” that gets rid of it.

You don't need a tune to account for the rev hang.

I've found if you slightly lift your foot off the accelerator, before pushing in the clutch, that helps account for the rev hang.

The rev hang is more noticeable at lower speed shifts.

Most of my adjustment to this gearbox has been to just slow down and take my time. Making sure shifts are not too quick but also having the engine in the correct RPM range to help the synchros out a bit.

I found it to be like any normal adjustment to a different daily vehicle.

That’s pretty much the textbook description of how to deal with Rev hang. It’s just a shame to have to adjust your driving techniques by going slower. The vehicle has enough slow all by itself
