New Recall - Brake Light Switch

I'm surprised no one has commented on the new recall just announced.

    https://www.auto123.com/en/news/suba...-brakes/65644/

The stated issue seems very minor and, at the moment, only involves the Forester and Impreza but as our Crosstreks are basically tall Imprezas we might get the call as well.

I think this recall typifies the approach Subaru has to quality. Even though "No accidents or incidents have been reported as a result of this issue." Subaru is prepared to face major cost and bad PR for the sake of prudency.

That switch has been failing for years, and it's finally a recall. That said, it's a minor cost to replace.

Thanks so much for Posting, as others have said this has proven to be a minor annoyance in the past, and should be a quick fix, once updated parts are available.

    Have a great weekend

Is this really true? Bigger than the Takata recall?
"It is the biggest (recall) as far as the number goes," a Subaru spokesman told AFP.

Yes as in terms of the number of units I believe and not cost. Subaru sourced a variety of different airbags for their cars depending on what size and shape they needed. With the brake light switch, they didn't need to be that specific as the device is very small and it would be easy to design the space around it.
