Have you had paint problems? A poll.

I'm seeing various complaints out there about paint failures in the 18s and 19s, but it's hard to get an idea of how common it is. So here's a poll to help shed some light on that. Vote in the poll and maybe mention your car's year and color in the thread.

I’m assuming ‘paint problems’ includes a penchant for allowing stone chips?

Not even a single chip on the '18 we got in November 2017, and just one minor door ding above the door moldings I installed (probably from a lifted truck) that will likely polish out.

Very happy with the paint so far.

No paint issues or chips 20k miles do far. All cars get stone chips sooner or later. Some people do lots of highway driving where chips are more prone on any car. Some people like to tailgate other cars and trucks where stone chips are more of an occurrence.

Excessive or unreasonably easy chipping, yes.

I am not particularly impressed with the paint job on my Subie. In the first year, several paint divots have appeared, and not on the nose where you'd expect them. On the hood and the sides. The paint doesn't seem to have much depth or durability.

There is even couple of glass divots on the driver's side mirror and the small window in the door. Most unusual.

I really wish the two out of twelve so far who've answered "Yes" to the poll would give some details about what happened.

Yeah, like year, color, whether problems are chipping from debris or paint simply not adhering, etc. And photos would be nice.

Ok, I’m one of the two. After about 2 months and a couple thousand miles, I noticed a large paint chip in an unlikely spot on my hood. I don’t drive off road, tailgate and I generally take care with my vehicles. I’ve since noticed several more chips, all on my hood. My last car was a 2016 Crosstrek and I didn’t have so many chips in 2+ years.
