Thread: Dash Rattle really?

    Dash Rattle really?

    Hi,

My XV now has 5000kms on it and I noticed a rather loud rattle in the dash it seems to be around the speakers somewhere. It only happens on certain road surfaces but is really quite loud (not something you expect when you pay 40k). Anyone else experienced this?

    Regards
    Pk-suby

Is your dealer hard to deal (sic) with? They should fix that on warranty.

Yes, your dealership will fix that for you. I had the same in mine...the service manager knew exactly what it was and how to fix it. And it was fixed very quickly.
Don't wait for your next service...it'll drive you crazy!
Just let them know and book it in and get it sorted. It should not cost you anything, except time taking it in.

FYI, Rattles are only fixed under warranty within the first 12 months. 😎

lol (sic) is used when something is misspelled or wrong is quoted to let the readers know that, the writer knows that it's wrong but is giving a unedited quote. I think what Arnold meant to say was "pun intended".

Anyway, all these people saying "yeah! I had that" did any of you ask the dealer what it was?

For those of you that had it fixed did they ever say what the problem was? A loose nut, bad design.... Also did they say what the fix was? I'd like to know what the issue and fix was, so if the dealer has no clue I can at least reference the work you guys had done. I'd like to avoid the deer in the headlights look if I can.

No, he never said what the problem was..
When the car was first released my service manager had been attending lots of different Subaru XV conferences. As soon as I started to tell him about the rattles, he nodded his head and said Yep, we can take care of that.
So I figured that it must be a fairly common problem that had been discussed amongst Subaru service managers.
Maybe yours will know what the problem is too?
