EDITED:Hey guys i want to finish my install asap, so i dont want to wait for the metra connectors. does anyone know the polarity of the speaker wires for the front door speakers?

there is a blue wire w/ an orange stripe and a white wire with a black stripe (drivers side). which is pos and which is neg? TIA

Passenger side is green wire and a brown wire with a white stripe.

This is from the service manual

does not show the polarity, but I guess same numbers (1 and 2) on the LH and RH side will be same polarity.
So according to the documents cheif wiggum uploaded as well. All the (2's) are positive and there also located on the left side of the diagram. Would that make it save to assume for the tweeters (1) would be positive???
Do you have the rest of the diagram so i could follow to see where they all hook up.

so, I checked the picture of the connectors at metra. judging from the pic here http://www.metraonline.com/images/products/full/72-8104.jpg

and my pic here:

drivers side
white w/ black stripe- POS
Blue w/ orange stripe- NEG

Passengers side:
Green wire- POS
Brown w/ white stripe- NEG

looks like I was wrong chief wiggum. I wish I had these docs yesterday! Previous post edited. Thanks! Now I gotta get back in and flip the wires around.

I wonder if the metra connectors reverse polarity? From the pic of the metra harness and the pic of my factory plug it looks like the plug would plug in and make the green wire on the car connect to the black (neg) wire on the harness.

Here is a page from the service manual for the CM631UD HU showing pin-outs for all of the rear sockets. The polarities of the speaker outputs are the same as on my 20-pin pin-out table, same as Metra's "7x-7552" (20-pin) harnesses, and the same as every other Subaru and Nissan I've seen that uses that type of harness.

Note that factory wire colors can change at intermediate harness junctions between the HU and the car's speakers. Also, I've occasionally found Subaru's wiring diagrams to have errors.

So is this right or wrong?

drivers side [Front Left]:
White w/ Black stripe- POS
Blue w/ Orange stripe- NEG

Passengers side [Front Right]:
Green wire- POS
Brown w/ White stripe- NEG
You have the wrong polarity on both of those. See audio wiring diagram I just added to my previous post, and compare to HU's speaker outputs. At the HU, the higher pin number of each speaker's wire pair is (+). E.g., on pin 7 & 8 pair (Front Left), 8 is (+).

Subaru's wiring diagrams give me a headache when they change wire colors like on your fronts (trace through the junction connectors to see what I'm talking about). At least the rears are sane.

On this model/year, it looks like each of the door speakers' pin #1 is (+). Each of the tweeters' #1 is (-).

Could you post some better pictures of various sides of those speaker harnesses you cut out, with no fingers, so we can better see what pins Subaru considers to be 1 and 2?

As for Metra's speaker harnesses, I suspect that the polarities may not be standard across all cars' harnesses that they fit. It could change between different makes, and possibly even on different models/years within the same make. And/or, you can't always assume that Metra's black wire means "negative". That is definitely the case in the car's factory wiring.

Checked and confirmed

First I checked the wiring harness online for the 2015 xv speakers and it looked like the positive was the side with the plastic clip. I grabbed a 9 volt and checked the factory speakers and sure enough I had positive cone excursion when the positive side of the battery contacted the wire of the speaker connected to the side with the clip. Here is what I came up with for my Premium 2015 Crosstrek.

LF Pos (Blue/gray) Neg (White/Black)
RF Pos (Brown/yellow) Neg (Green)
LR Pos (Red/White) Neg (Red/Black)
RR Pos (Gray/green) Neg (Red/White)

this seems to be completely opposite of the info chiefwiggum posted.

Can someone please confirm the speaker colours for the 2013.
There seems to be conflicting thoughts here.
Is #1 +ve or not ?
Thanks.

hey so I thought id give a nice 4 year reply to this seeing that people surely still use this thread.

I followed what coletrain and cheifwiggum did and it was the WRONG way.
below is the correct polarity from my testing and real experience putting in new speakers.

drivers side
white w/ black stripe- NEGATIVE
Blue w/ orange stripe- POSITIVE

Passengers side:
Green wire- NEGATIVE
Brown w/ white stripe- POSITIVE.

you can test this yourself by once you connect the wires use a polarity tester app on your phone and check.
